Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov responded to the tightening of visa regulations

In his comment, Edil Baisalov touched upon the introduction of a collateral verification procedure starting January 21, 2026, for citizens of Kyrgyzstan wishing to obtain a visa to the USA. Applicants will be required to pay a security deposit ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 dollars.

It is important to note the following points:

The payment of the deposit does not guarantee automatic visa approval. This measure is aimed at strengthening control over compliance with migration legislation.

Baisalov expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision of the U.S. State Department. He believes that Bishkek should consider revising the visa-free regime for U.S. citizens in response to such actions. The politician emphasized that international relations should be based on reciprocity and equality.
