Edil Baisalov called for a review of the visa regime for U.S. citizens

The Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov expressed the opinion that Kyrgyzstan should take measures in response to the introduction of a visa bond by the United States.

Baisalov believes it is necessary to reconsider the existing visa regime for U.S. citizens.

He noted: "I believe we should initiate a review of the visa-free regime for U.S. citizens after the State Department introduced new visa requirements, which stipulate that Kyrgyz citizens must pay a bond of up to $15,000 when applying for visas. Visa policy is a matter of mutual respect and parity. If such high barriers are set for our citizens, we cannot stand aside and pretend that nothing has happened," the Deputy Prime Minister stated on his account on the social network X.

It should be noted that starting from January 21, 2026, a financial bond requirement ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 will be introduced for citizens of several countries, including Kyrgyzstan, when applying for B1/B2 visas for tourism and business trips.
