Trump is not against Maria Machado handing him her Nobel Peace Prize

In a recent interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump stated his intention to meet with Maria Machado next week, as reported by Meduza.

When Hannity asked if Trump would accept the Nobel Peace Prize if Machado decided to award it to him, he replied, "I heard she wants to do that. It would be a great honor."

After the U.S. captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on January 3, Trump denied support for Machado. Sources from The Washington Post claim that in 2025, Machado received the Nobel Peace Prize, which Trump was rumored to have also been a contender for. Although Machado dedicated her award to the U.S. President, her decision to accept the prize was characterized as "the greatest sin."

Trump denied claims that Machado's receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize influenced his policy towards Venezuela, but noted that she "should not have won." In turn, after Maduro's ousting, Machado told Fox News of her willingness to give her Nobel Prize to Trump or share it with him.
