Police officers of the Uzgen District Department of Internal Affairs beat detainees so severely that one has brain swelling, - GKNB

Turmush — The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has shared new data regarding the criminal case in which three employees of the Uzgen Department of Internal Affairs were detained.

Previously, the Prosecutor's Office of the Osh region formalized the case under articles 130 part 3 point 2 ("Causing serious harm to health") and 338 part 2 point 4 ("Abuse of power") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the SCNS, the incident occurred on January 3, when employees of the Uzgen Department of Internal Affairs illegally detained two citizens and brought them to the Kurshab Police Station without the appropriate documents. The investigation claims that during the detention, the detainees were subjected to beating, resulting in serious harm to the health of one of them, including a severe closed traumatic brain injury and cerebral edema.

As a result, the detainees S.H., I.u.K., and A.A. were placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS.

Investigative actions are ongoing.
The SCNS urges citizens to be active and report cases of abuse of power, misuse of official position, and other offenses.
