Fishing nets retrieved from the bottom of Issyk-Kul are being recycled at a new waste processing plant in Bishkek
Since 2023, measures to clean the lake from debris have been intensified. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, divers have surveyed over 1 million hectares of the lake's bottom. By the end of 2025, about 43 tons of garbage and more than 400 kilometers of fishing nets have been extracted, which were previously handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.
