In the city of Osh, a property was returned to the state after 30 years — now there will be a kindergarten for 280 children.
According to data provided by the city administration, kindergarten No. 18 was closed 32 years ago. An inspection revealed that in 1998, the property was transferred to private hands in violation of legal norms.
On January 8, the mayor of Osh, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, visited the site to familiarize himself with the renovation process. He noted: “This building was a state kindergarten. For 30–40 years, it changed owners and was in private ownership. It housed a university, a school, and even a barracks. We went to court and won the case, so now we are conducting major renovations at the expense of the city budget. There will be a kindergarten for 280 children here.”
The mayor also mentioned that there are no other kindergartens in the area from Kokum-Biy Street to the village of Kenesh, so parents have to transport their children to facilities located in the central part of the city.
Currently, work is being done to replace the roof, finish the interior of the premises, and create playgrounds for children. It is expected that all work will be completed and the facility will be ready for operation by January 25.
