Tom Cruise Tried His Hand as a Cinematographer. Filmed a Scene in the New "Star Wars"

In an interview with The New York Times, director Shawn Levy shared an interesting fact about the filming of the movie Star Wars: Starfighter — one of the scenes was shot by Tom Cruise himself, as reported by Meduza.

In November 2025, the actor, who initially arrived on set by helicopter, just wanted to observe the process. At that time, the team was working on a scene where the characters were fighting with lightsabers in a pond. Shawn jokingly suggested to Cruise that he try his hand at being a cameraman, and to everyone's surprise, he agreed.

Tom stood in the pond, sinking ankle-deep in muddy water, and began looking for the best angle for filming. Levy noted two things: first, Cruise proved to be a true professional, and second, he apparently ruined his expensive shoes in the process.

How successfully Tom handled the task of cameraman will be evaluated by viewers on May 28, 2027, when the premiere of Star Wars: Starfighter takes place. The lead role in the film is played by Ryan Gosling, and the project also features Amy Adams, Matt Smith, and Mia Goth.
