Nelly Nosalik: Advertising on social media is the most promising direction


In Kyrgyzstan, there is a growing trend of female entrepreneurship in the field of information technology. Often, the lack of specialized education does not prevent women from achieving success in this area. Many startups are initiated by mothers on maternity leave, among whom Nelly Nosalik stands out, demonstrating that digitalization is actively developing and women are keeping up with modern demands.

In an interview with vb.kg, Nelly Nosalik noted that for women in IT, not only financial gain is important, but also the opportunity to feel their significance and control their time. She is confident that advertising on social media is the most promising business direction, although she never planned to engage in targeted advertising herself.

What prompted you to choose this field?

- This happened about five years ago when I didn't even suspect the existence of targeted advertising. At that time, I had a daughter, and I was looking for a way to work and raise a child at the same time. Targeted advertising perfectly fit my requirements: all I needed for work was a laptop, internet, and knowledge. In Bishkek, I can place ads for clients from different corners of the world; I have clients in the USA, the United Arab Emirates, and even Bali.

Do you regret changing professions? What did you do before?

- Previously, I worked as an English translator in a large South Korean construction company and as an assistant to the general director. The job was interesting, with constant communication, but after the birth of my daughter, I decided to open a mini-online store for children's clothing. The question of attracting clients led me to targeted advertising and the realization that there is such a profession as a targeted advertising specialist. Initially, I viewed targeting as a hobby, planning to return to my previous job, but after mastering it, I realized that I didn't want to go back.

To develop in this field, I had to learn a lot of new things, including the basics of marketing. My knowledge is mostly practical, and over four years, I have significantly advanced in my profession, working with advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

Why these social networks?

- I consider them the most promising and modern. Although I can work on other platforms, such as Google or VKontakte, I prefer to focus on Facebook and Instagram for better results. Our field is constantly changing, and to stay informed, it's important to delve into specific platforms; otherwise, it's hard to remain a good specialist.

Advertising is in demand not only on these social networks but also in general. People spend a lot of time on social media and can see offers, sign up for courses, or order products and services.

Who needs targeted advertising and what advantages does it give to businesses?

- It is necessary for everyone who has a business and wants to promote their goods or services. There are many companies and experts who need advertising, and I help them through targeted advertising. The advantages are that you can precisely target the advertising to a specific audience, considering gender, age, interests, and other parameters, which increases the likelihood of attracting interested clients.

What is the specificity of working with foreign clients?

- My work with foreign clients mainly does not concern the Kyrgyz market. For example, I collaborate with cleaning companies in the USA, setting up advertising for specific cities. I also have a large flower shop in New York for which I set up advertising only for its market. The advertising starts to work immediately after launch, and usually, inquiries appear on the very first day.

If a businessman wants to enter our market, I can set up advertising campaigns for him as well.

Do you conduct training courses? How do they differ from others?

- For two years, I did not conduct courses due to my workload, but I recently resumed them. The main difference in my course is the emphasis on practical training. Without practical skills, it is impossible to master targeted advertising effectively, especially considering the constant changes in Facebook's algorithms. It is important for the instructor to provide relevant information and help students achieve results.

What qualities should a targeted advertising specialist possess?

- They should be disciplined and responsible. Entrepreneurs often complain about the inaccessibility of their targeted advertising specialists, which is unacceptable. We must maintain communication with clients and help them effectively promote their goods and services to achieve results. It is important for the client to see an increase in interest in their business through our work.

How do clients find you?

- Mostly through word of mouth. At first, it was difficult, but now clients find me themselves, often through recommendations. I work with clients for a long time, sometimes even for several years.

What do you think the future of targeted advertising is?

- I am confident that the profession of a targeted advertising specialist will be in demand for a long time, and it is important to keep up with the times and monitor new trends.
