Unusual Names: A. Osmonalieva was Named After a Queen from a Fairy Tale

In the "Unusual Names" section, we will tell you about Altynchach Osmonalieva, who lives in the village of Togolok Moldо, located in the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region.

She began her career in education 9 years ago. Altynchach was born on February 11, 1975, in the same village. She received her education at the school named after Zhorobek Satylganov from 1981 to 1992, after which she continued her studies at the Naryn State University named after Kadyrbai Mambetakunov, where she studied to become a primary school teacher (1992-1995). Additionally, she completed her bachelor's degree at the Naryn State University named after Satybaldy Naamatov, obtaining a qualification as a teacher. Since 2015, she has been working at her native school, starting as a librarian and later becoming a teacher.

Altynchach shared a personal tragedy: "Eight years ago, I lost my husband."

In her memories, she noted that her grandmother raised her. She has five siblings; however, her father and one of her younger brothers have already passed away. Her mother worked as a nurse and is now retired, living in Kemine with her younger son. Altynchach has a son and a daughter; her elder daughter is married and has four grandchildren, while her son is currently in the 6th grade.

Altynchach talked about her journey to becoming a teacher: "I decided to become a teacher when I was still in school. However, my relatives advised me to choose a profession as a seamstress or designer, as I have skills in handicrafts. My mother supported my choice. In 2017-2018, I worked as a deputy principal in a primary school, but in the following academic year, due to a decrease in the number of students, that position was abolished. For two years, I worked as a librarian until the opportunity to teach arose."

Moreover, she is fond of handicrafts: "Before starting my teaching career, I worked as a seamstress for a long time. I sew using patchwork techniques, do embroidery, and engage in bead weaving. Previously, I took orders and worked on decorating Kyrgyz yurts, but now I hardly have any time for handicrafts."

Altynchach also talked about the meaning of her name: "I was named by my father. As a child, I didn't like this name. Once, he told a fairy tale, from which I learned that the name 'Altynchach' (which translates to 'golden-haired') belongs to a queen. Since then, I have loved my name. My father also named his younger brother's daughter 'Gulmari,' but now she is unhappy with her name. As for me, I like my name; it is rare and beautiful, although I have unfortunately forgotten the meaning of 'Gulmari'."
She also recalled a funny incident that happened during a trip to a district seminar in 2018: "My colleagues and I went to the village of Kosh-Döbö. All the teachers and librarians gathered at the district education department to leave on the same transport. I noticed that everyone started putting on headscarves and cloaks, which surprised me, as the weather was warm. Later, I realized that the road was terrible: we were shaken in the minibus, and we all got out covered in dust, while the others were in clean clothes."

Altynchach also recounted how she once gave a student a failing grade and soon became frightened: "When I first started teaching, there was a student who did not engage in the learning process and did not do his homework. I gave him a failing grade, although I tried to involve him in the lessons. After that, the student's grandmother was upset about the grade, and I became scared when I learned that he was the grandson of a fellow villager I knew. She stopped being upset when she found out that I was his teacher."
