Kazakhstan has set a beef export quota of 20,000 tons for the first half of 2026

- The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced on January 7 the introduction of new rules that will come into effect on December 31, 2025.

The quota will be valid until June 30, 2026, and its total volume will amount to 20 thousand tons for the export of beef.

The main objective of these temporary restrictions is to ensure food security, support deep processing of products, as well as to create transparent statistics and track the origin of meat.

“The reason for the introduction of these measures was the situation where some companies and small slaughterhouses were reselling livestock without fattening it, without developing their own production base. This created conditions for speculative mediation and distorted the real balances of supply and demand, which, in turn, contributed to the rise in domestic prices,” the ministry clarified.
