The USA struck ISIS targets in Syria
According to the statement, these attacks were part of Operation "Hawk Strike," which was initiated on December 19, 2025, at the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump. The operation was a response to a deadly ISIS attack on American and Syrian troops that occurred on December 13, 2025, near the city of Palmyra.
According to the command, ISIS positions were attacked throughout Syria during the operation. The main objectives of these strikes are to "eliminate Islamic terrorism directed against U.S. servicemen," prevent further attacks, and ensure the safety of American forces and their partners in the region.
The Central Command emphasized that American and coalition forces remain resolute in their intention to pursue terrorists who threaten the United States.
The military also noted that the U.S. position remains unchanged: if American servicemen are threatened, those responsible will be found and eliminated anywhere in the world, regardless of their attempts to evade justice.
The U.S. military operation in Syria began in mid-December following the ISIS attack in the Palmyra area, which resulted in the deaths of two American servicemen, one civilian translator, and a Syrian soldier. Earlier, Donald Trump emphasized that ISIS would face a strong response, adding that the Syrian authorities support U.S. actions.
