Deputy Minister of Culture Tagaev on Zhapikeev: Chinghiz Aitmatov does not need protection from a person who needs psychological help and hospitalization

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to science, education, and culture, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva expressed the opinion that the Ministry of Culture should assess the actions of Syimyk Japikeev, who made controversial statements about Chyngyz Aitmatov.
Kultaeva emphasized that Japikeev gave an interview to a channel with two hundred thousand subscribers, where he expressed his opinion about the famous writer. "Aitmatov is our cultural symbol. Esteemed representatives of the Ministry of Culture, you must protect our cultural heritage. When citizen Japikeev makes such statements about our great figure, you simply remain silent. This is unacceptable! I insist that you provide a legal and judicial assessment," the deputy stated.

She also noted that Japikeev's comments were spread on social media and could be noticed beyond the country's borders.

In response to this statement, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev noted that Chyngyz Aitmatov does not need protection from a person who himself requires psychiatric help and hospitalization. According to him, the Ministry of Culture will prepare an official assessment of the situation.

Kultaeva added that an official response and legal assessment of Japikeev's actions are necessary.
