Kyrgyzstan ranks in the top 5 countries for domestic film production per capita
Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev reported that between 80 and 100 films are produced annually in Kyrgyzstan, with contributions from both state and private studios.
“According to global rankings, Kyrgyzstan holds a high position in the number of films per capita, indicating the growth of our film industry. In Central Asia, our viewers also lead in watching domestic films, while in neighboring countries, more than half of the audience prefers foreign films,” he noted.
Additionally, Tagaev shared ambitious plans for infrastructure development by 2026.
“We plan to collaborate with the Ministry of Construction to create a film studio, the project of which is currently being developed. Also on the agenda is the construction of a Dolby Atmos recording studio, which will allow domestic filmmakers to record sound on-site, eliminating the need to travel abroad,” he added.
