In Parliament, there was a call to assess the statements of Syimyk Zhapikeev about Aitmatov

At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place today, deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva urged the Ministry of Culture to evaluate the words of Syimyk Japikeev regarding Chingiz Aitmatov.

Kultaeva pointed out that Japikeev gave an interview to one of the television channels, which has 200,000 subscribers, where he expressed his opinion about the famous Kyrgyz writer.

“Chingiz Aitmatov is a cultural symbol for us, a world-renowned writer. Many films have been made based on his works. Esteemed representatives of the Ministry of Culture, you must defend our cultural heritage. Syimyk Japikeev is making unflattering comments about our outstanding figure, and you remain silent. His statements are spreading on social media, and this can be noticed by other countries. I insist that a legal and judicial assessment of his words be provided. We need to curb attempts to undermine our national values,” the deputy emphasized.

In response to this statement, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev noted that Chingiz Aitmatov does not need protection from a person who requires psychological help and hospitalization. However, he added that the ministry will prepare an official conclusion on this matter.
