Turat Akimov: Syimyq Zhapikeev Apologizes for His Words About Aitmatov

Syimyk Japikeev, the former head of the Financial Police, published an apology for his statements about the famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov. This news was announced by journalist and public figure Turat Akimov on his social media page.
Akimov recalled the Kyrgyz proverb: "There is no person who does not make mistakes, and there is no horse that does not stumble." He noted that he observed a negative reaction towards his younger brother Syimyk and decided to intervene to clarify the situation.
Turat remembered how they met with Japikeev in the fall of 2019 at Ala-Too Square during a rally against a lawsuit initiated by Shirin Aitmatova and several media outlets. Despite the noise, Syimyk approached him to introduce himself, but a full conversation did not take place, and Akimov invited him to the office.
At that time, Akimov's apartment near the "Vefa Center" served as the headquarters for "Chon Kazat," with walls decorated with posters. During their conversation, he explained to Syimyk the importance of understanding the spirit of Manas. This opened his eyes to many aspects, and subsequently, Japikeev became an active supporter of Manas's ideas and a prominent leader of "Chon Kazat," while Akimov went abroad.
In a recent conversation, Akimov asked Syimyk whether he really spoke poorly of Chingiz Aitmatov. Japikeev replied that he wanted to talk about how many "mankurts" have appeared in Kyrgyzstan, which the great writer wrote about, but his words were misunderstood. He emphasized that he could not offend Chyngyz-aga, as he often visited Shirin Aitmatova's home, and expressed sincere apologies.
Akimov called on everyone to show generosity and forgive someone who has acknowledged their mistake. He emphasized that the perception of a writer's style will always be subjective and that it is not worth dwelling on this misunderstanding. "Let us show patience and understanding in this case," he added.
