Kokpar Included in the Program of the World Nomad Games - 2026

The organizers emphasize the neutrality of the tournament and the importance of preserving traditional culture


In 2026, as part of the VI World Nomad Games, which will take place in Kyrgyzstan, two types of equestrian sports will be presented — Kyrgyz kok-boru and Kazakh kokpar. This was announced by Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports.

He noted that the decision to include both sports was made to prevent possible conflicts and misunderstandings between the participating countries. The organizers aim to create a program that is as inclusive and balanced as possible, reflecting the diversity of nomadic culture.

Kazybek Moldazhiyev also emphasized that the management of the World Nomad Games adheres to the principle of apoliticism in sports. The competitions should serve as a platform for cultural exchange, mutual respect, and the preservation of historical traditions, rather than leading to disputes.

It is expected that the participation of both forms of this popular game will attract significant attention from both athletes and spectators, and will become one of the central events of the Games.
