Director of GAFKIS KR: Kokpar will be included in the VI WIC program

During a press conference organized at the Kabar agency, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan, announced that the game of kokpar will be included in the program of the VI World Nomad Games. According to him, equestrian sports occupy a central place in these Games, attracting significant attention from both spectators and the media.
“We decided to add kokpar to the program along with kok-boru. Sports should remain outside of politics; our goal is to promote ethnoculture and ethnosport. Our teams will participate in the kokpar competitions,” he emphasized. Moldazhiyev also noted that this year, for the first time, the titles of “great kok-boru player” and “great kok-boru horse” will be awarded, which he believes will attract additional public interest and serve as motivation for athletes.
He clarified that a club format will not be used in kok-boru, and the competitions will take place in a traditional format.
Nursultan Adenov, head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, added that the program also includes national wrestling styles from the peoples of Yakutia and Buryatia.
“These peoples are actively interested in the Games, and one of the largest delegations of participants will come from Russia,” he noted.
