Protests in Iran. How many citizens of Kyrgyzstan are in the country?

At a press conference held on January 15 in Bishkek, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev reported that a significant number of Kyrgyz citizens have already left Iran due to the conflict that occurred in the summer.

According to him, around 20 citizens remain in the country, including diplomats and 12 women who married foreigners. The minister assured that the embassy is in contact with them and is ready to organize their evacuation if the situation worsens. However, at the moment, the situation has somewhat stabilized. Despite the lack of internet, contact is maintained through other means, and there are no concerns regarding safety, he added.

It is worth noting that mass protests in Iran have been ongoing since December 28. They began at the central market in Tehran, where many traders closed their shops in protest against hyperinflation and sharp price fluctuations.

According to Euronews, 2,571 people have died as a result of clashes between protesters and law enforcement forces.

U.S. President Donald Trump is considering military intervention against Iran in response to the brutal suppression of protests. In turn, Iranian authorities threaten strikes on American military bases in the region in the event of an attack by the U.S.
