In Iran - the tenth day of protests. Now the merchants of the largest bazaar have gone on strike.

The situation of the protests in Iran, which began ten days ago, continues to deteriorate. On January 6, merchants at the famous Tehran bazaar closed their shops, joining a nationwide strike while chanting slogans demanding freedom. These protests were a response to the recent sharp decline in the national currency's value and the worsening financial crisis in a country that has been under sanctions for over 40 years.

The authorities' reaction to the strike was swift: security forces were deployed against the striking merchants at the closed bazaar. Tensions escalated, and tear gas was used to disperse the demonstrators.

The protests spread to 27 out of 31 provinces in the country, resulting in the deaths of 27 activists and two law enforcement officers.

According to reports, during the protests that took place in 257 locations, 64 people were injured, and 1,203 were detained. Most injuries were caused by rubber and plastic bullets.

No official statements have been made by Iranian authorities regarding the dead or injured during the protests. However, the Iranian Ministry of Interior, in its report presented to parliament, referred to the events as a "rebellion" and noted that about 85% of calls to participate in the protests originated from foreign platforms.

Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump previously issued a warning to Iranian authorities regarding their actions towards the protesters, stating that the U.S. was prepared to take action.
