The diplomat emphasized that Trump does not want a military conflict with Iran; however, he urges Tehran to refrain from actions that may contradict U.S. interests in the Middle East.
At the same time, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, there is a possibility that the United States may launch missile strikes against Iran from destroyers that are already in the region.
Trump also noted that he was informed about the cessation of executions in Iran: "We have information that killings and executions have stopped. I was told that there are no plans for this." He expressed hope that if the situation changes, it would raise significant concerns.
When asked if military actions against Iran have been canceled, Trump replied: "We are monitoring the situation, and we have reliable sources of information." Earlier, Reuters reported on possible U.S. attacks on Iran within the next 24 hours.
According to human rights organizations, the number of casualties from protests in Iran may exceed 12,000 people.
The U.S. State Department recommends that Americans and citizens of allied countries leave Iran.
According to the latest data, protests are taking place in 585 locations across 186 cities (31 provinces) in Iran, and the number of detainees exceeds tens of thousands.
The Iranian air defense is on heightened alert.
It should be noted that the country has been experiencing internet outages for a week, and mobile communication is also not functioning. Mass protests, triggered by economic difficulties and the devaluation of the national currency, have been ongoing since the end of December 2025.
