"Letter 75". Detainees Placed in Pretrial Detention Center-1

On February 12, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek made a decision to remand several individuals in custody in connection with the case of mass riots. This information was published on February 13 by the court's press service, which reported to the editorial office of "AKIpress Summary."

According to the court's decision, the following detainees will remain in detention center No. 1 until April 10:

- A.K.S., born in 1966, previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kursan Asanov;

- T.B., born in 1955, coordinator of the "People's Parliament" and former head of the Prime Minister's Office Bekbolot Talgarbekov;

- K.A.A., born in 1968, former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Aaly Karashev;

- U.E.U., born in 1955, former ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan Emilbek Uzakbaev;

- D.K.S., born in 1960, previously the authorized representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jogorku Kenesh Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev.

The criminal case, in which investigative actions are being conducted, pertains to articles 41 part 2, 36, 278 part 1 ("Organization and preparation for mass riots") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On February 9, information appeared on social networks and in the media that an appeal had been sent to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu from 75 citizens. In this letter, they call for the immediate holding of new presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan, among the signatories are representatives of science, former prime ministers, ex-deputies, and public figures.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that some points of the appeal caused "widespread discussion among the population, which exacerbated the socio-political situation in the country."

On February 11, Talgarbekov, Dyikanbaev, and Uzakbaev were detained, and on the same day, Asanov and Karashev were also detained.
