"Letter 75". Kursan Asanov and Aaly Karashev Detained
As previously reported, on February 9, information appeared on social media and in the media that 75 citizens had sent a request to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu asking for new presidential elections in the country. Among the signatories, according to reports, were representatives of the scientific community, former prime ministers, former deputies, and various public figures. Three politicians have already been detained as part of the investigation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that such actions could lead to political instability and public conflicts, as well as threaten the internal unity and stability of the state.
In this case, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal proceeding under part 1 of Article 278 of the Criminal Code, concerning mass riots.
During the investigative actions, two more individuals were identified and detained — the alleged organizers and active participants of this crime: A.K., born in 1966, and K.A., born in 1968. They were temporarily detained in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The suspects are accused of organizing mass riots and other illegal actions. Searches were conducted at their addresses.
The name A.K. may correspond to Kursan Asanov, who previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, while K.A. may represent Aaly Karashev, a former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh.
