On February 11, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported the detention of three prominent politicians suspected of organizing mass riots.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on February 9, information appeared on social media and in the media stating that an appeal had been sent to President Sadyr Japarov and the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, from 75 citizens calling for the immediate holding of new presidential elections in the country. Among the signatories are scholars, former prime ministers, former deputies, and public figures.

The agency noted that some of the wording in the appeal sparked significant public discussion and contributed to the escalation of the political situation in the country. In this regard, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under Article 278, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning the organization of mass riots involving violence and destruction.

As part of this case, all 75 signatories were summoned for questioning by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the investigation, the initiators and active participants were identified, including citizens T.B. (born in 1955), U.E. (born in 1955), and D.K. (born in 1960). These individuals were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Searches were also conducted at the residences of the detainees.

Among those detained are the coordinator of the "People's Parliament," former head of the Prime Minister's Office Bekbolot Talgarbekov, former ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Emilbek Uzakbaev, and former presidential representative in the Jogorku Kenesh Kurmanbek Dyykanbaev.
