Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova stated that television host Solovyov's remarks about Central Asia do not represent Moscow's official position.
In her statement, Zakharova noted that Solovyov's remarks made on January 10 during the "Solovyov Live" program do not represent the official position of Russia. During the broadcast, the host referred to Central Asia as "ours" and suggested the possibility of conducting a special military operation in areas of Russian influence, as well as characterized the loss of Armenia as a "gigantic problem" for the country.
She emphasized that the opinions expressed by Solovyov were made in the context of his role as a journalist on a private channel and were formulated as questions rather than official statements. Zakharova condemned attempts to interpret these words as an official position, calling it unacceptable manipulation.
"The statements were presented in a provocative manner, and it is quite obvious that they should not be perceived as the official position of Russia. Official opinions are articulated by authorized representatives," she noted.
Zakharova also emphasized that Russia has a long history of good neighborliness and cooperation with the peoples of the South Caucasus and Central Asia. She highlighted the importance of personal contacts between state leaders, based on mutual respect and trust, as a guarantee for the successful development of relations.
The Foreign Ministry representative added: "It is important to judge by actions. We have repeatedly come to help, demonstrated friendly relations and sincere emotions. We have jointly faced difficulties and always sought ways to solve problems. This is what we should focus on, rather than succumbing to provocations, of which there will be many in the future. Let us concentrate on real facts, not on fakes and falsehoods," Zakharova concluded.
