The Ministry of Culture intends to give an official assessment of his statements that have caused public resonance
At a meeting of the committee on science, education, innovations, information technologies, culture, sports, and youth affairs, deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva demanded that the Ministry of Culture analyze the recent statements of Syymyk Japykeev about the writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
As Kultaeva noted, Japykeev gave an interview on a popular channel that has about two hundred thousand subscribers, where he expressed his opinions about the writer. She emphasized that Aitmatov is a cultural symbol of Kyrgyzstan, and such statements spread on social media can be seen not only by the citizens of the country but also by the international audience.
“The Ministry of Culture should care about preserving cultural heritage. In the case of such statements, it is important not to remain indifferent — a legal and judicial assessment is required,” the deputy stated.
In response, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev said that Chyngyz Aitmatov does not need protection, but added that the ministry is preparing an official statement on this matter.
Kultaeva insists that the Ministry's response should be formalized as an official and legal document.
