The specialized committee of the Housing and Utilities Sector heard information about the activities of the Department of Cinematography
During the meeting of the Committee on Science, Education, Innovative Development, Information Technologies, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, information was presented about the activities of the Cinematography Department under the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy.
The information was presented by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev.
During the discussion, Deputy Erulan Kokulov drew attention to issues in the regulation of film distribution and screening in Kyrgyzstan, noting that it is unacceptable to display advertisements for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in films. He pointed out that this issue was raised 4 years ago; however, advertisements for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products can still be found in some Kyrgyz films. Deputy Gulai Mashrapova raised questions about the allocated budget funds and the full-length films produced over the past three years, the return of budget funds after the completion of the distribution campaign, and the necessity of adapting historical films. Deputy Bolot Sagynaev also raised issues related to state funding and support for domestic cinematography, as well as mechanisms for controlling film content to ensure compliance with the legislation and cultural norms of the country. Deputy Santalat Amanova emphasized the activities of the Cinematography Department and the need for reforms in the film industry.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev responded that films were previously made at the state's request for non-commercial purposes, and in the future, attention will also be given to commercial projects. He noted that a film titled "Syngan Kylch" and other historical film projects are planned, adding that appropriate film studios are necessary for the production of such films.
