"Am I the only one responsible for the health of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan?"
At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on science, education, innovative development, information technologies, culture, sports, and youth affairs, deputy Erulan Kokulov expressed his determination to sue the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan. The reason for this step was the promotion of tobacco and alcohol advertising in films.
Kokulov noted: "Currently, we are witnessing the open promotion of cigarettes; for example, it is claimed that they have a double capsule. I stated three years ago that this is unacceptable, but no actions have been taken. Do I need to go to court? Am I the only one responsible for the health of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan? This concerns the health of the nation. The law prohibits the advertising of tobacco and alcohol products in cinema, yet we continue to see this. I am convinced that the Ministry of Culture profits from this. We do not need films funded by tobacco companies; we can do without them," the deputy emphasized.
