The national cinema of Kyrgyzstan received record funding in 2025
The budget volume has almost tripled, and the number of films and series has also increased
At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, and Culture, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev presented a report on the state of national cinematography for 2025.
He noted that funding for the industry increased from 345 million soms in 2024 to over 970 million soms in 2025. Throughout the year, the Department of Cinematography processed more than 4,000 documents, highlighting the active work of the agency in supporting and developing film production.
With government support, 4 films and 1 series were created in 2025 through the Department, while the National Film Studio "Kyrgyzfilm" released 48 films and 2 animated features. Additionally, the creative association "Kyrgyzserial" produced 7 series and 1 historical project.
In the same year, the material and technical base was updated: 16 million soms were allocated for the major repairs of film studios, and nearly 192 million soms were spent on the purchase of specialized equipment. These measures significantly improved the conditions for creating and showcasing quality cinema.
