In the Moscow District, the number of sick children is growing daily — what do doctors say?
According to information provided by the agency, from January 1 to January 9, 2026, 325 children underwent inpatient treatment. During the winter months, especially due to sharp temperature fluctuations, there is a constant rise in the number of sick children.
The dynamics of the number of patients in the children's department of the General Practice Center from January 1 to January 9, 2026, is presented below:
January 1, 2026 — 29 patients;
January 2, 2026 — 30 patients;
January 3, 2026 — 33 patients;
January 4, 2026 — 29 patients;
January 5, 2026 — 37 patients;
January 6, 2026 — 36 patients;
January 7, 2026 — 45 patients;
January 8, 2026 — 42 patients;
January 9, 2026 — 51 patients.
The total number of beds in the children's and gynecological departments is 20, with an additional 30 beds opened.
“At the beginning of January 2026, the number of children with symptoms such as cough, flu, and high fever ranged from 29 to 30, while from January 7 to January 9, this figure increased to 45–51. Currently, the children's department with 20 beds is fully occupied, and an additional 30 beds have been set up in the gynecological department. Sick children receive round-the-clock care from medical staff. This phenomenon occurs every year. The main reason is the excessive consumption of cold drinks by children during the New Year holidays, which leads to illnesses. At the moment, there are enough medications,” the General Practice Center reported.
Doctors also strongly recommend that parents limit children's participation in entertainment activities during the winter period, not allow them to play unsupervised in parks and on the streets, and actively monitor their health.
