Potatoes from Russia were not allowed into Kyrgyzstan

A batch of potatoes from Russia that did not meet phytosanitary control requirements was detained at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

According to the ministry's information, on January 7, 2026, at the "Combined Post" located near the "Ak-Tilek" checkpoint, employees of the Department of Chemicalization and Plant Quarantine discovered the absence of the necessary phytosanitary certificate during an inspection of a cargo weighing 44.2 tons, which is classified as a product with a high phytosanitary risk.

The ministry clarified that in accordance with paragraph 3.7 of the Regulations on Quarantine Phytosanitary Control on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, this cargo was returned to the sender.

The agency also noted that control over compliance with phytosanitary standards when importing agricultural products into the country continues as usual.
