44.2 Tons of Potatoes Imported from Russia Not Allowed into Kyrgyzstan

On January 7, 2026, at the "Svodny" post near the "Ak-Tilek" checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan, a batch of potatoes weighing 44.2 tons was discovered that did not meet the established phytosanitary requirements for import into Kyrgyzstan.

According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the non-compliance was identified by employees of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine during an inspection.

It should be noted that this batch of quarantined products posed a high phytosanitary risk and was not accompanied by the necessary phytosanitary certificate. In accordance with paragraph 3.7 of the Regulation on the Procedure for Phytosanitary Quarantine Control in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, approved by the decision of the Customs Union Commission on June 18, 2010, No. 318, the cargo was returned to the sender.

The ministry also emphasized that control over compliance with phytosanitary norms when importing agricultural products into the country continues as usual.
