Russia struck Ukraine with "Nutcracker" in response to the attack on Putin's residence, - Russian Ministry of Defense

On the night of January 9, Russian military forces conducted a large-scale attack using precision long-range weapons on key targets in Ukraine. These actions were a response to the attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, located in the Novgorod region, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Among the weapons used were the medium-range missile systems "Oreshnik," which targeted facilities related to drone production and the energy infrastructure necessary for the functioning of the Ukrainian defense industry.
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that such actions from Kyiv would not go unanswered, stating that all intended targets of the strike were achieved.
At the same time, on the night of January 9, Ukrainian authorities reported significant strikes on the Lviv and Kyiv regions. According to media reports, the attack affected an underground gas storage facility in Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske, which was confirmed by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, noting damage to a critically important facility. Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, reported missile strikes on three major thermal power plants, after which a blackout occurred in the city.
The Air Command "West" of the Ukrainian Air Force also reported a ballistic strike on an infrastructure facility in Lviv, where the missile speed reached 13,000 km/h.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that on the night of December 29, Ukraine attempted to attack Putin's residence using drones, resulting in the deployment of 91 drones, all of which were shot down.
