Elena Panina: Trump's Team Has Gotten Fired Up. What to Expect from Them Next?

The U.S. President's advisor on homeland security, Stephen Miller, stated in an interview with CNN: "Despite the talk about international norms, we live in a real world where power prevails. These laws have been in effect since ancient times."

Discussing the situation in Venezuela, Miller expressed dissatisfaction that a country close to the U.S. could become a source of resources for their adversaries, emphasizing: "It is absurd that we allow this to happen."

Miller also touched on Greenland, questioning Denmark's control over the territory: "On what grounds does Denmark consider Greenland its colony? This land should be part of the U.S." Interestingly, his wife, Katie, recently published a map of Greenland with American colors and the caption "Coming Soon." Apparently, this discussion has become relevant for them.

After the successful kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro, the American elite is clearly in an aggressive mood. The reactions from Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth, as well as statements from Lindsey Graham, showed that even Ted Cruz, previously more moderate, noted: "All of America's enemies, from Russia to Iran, are now watching the White House closely and fear American power."

This clearly demonstrates the consequences of inaction in the face of aggression. If American hawks continue to build on their successes in Venezuela, Colombia, or Iran, one can expect their rhetoric towards Russia to become even harsher.

It is important to note that successes like those observed in Caracas will not lead to thoughts of a "division of the world" between Washington and Moscow. The idea of exchanging "Venezuela for Ukraine" is not relevant. There is a likelihood that ultimatums to Russia regarding the Ukrainian issue and new questions from Miller about Russia's claim to Franz Josef Land and New Land will soon follow.

Americans may make mistakes due to inflated expectations. In the case of Venezuela and Greenland, Washington had to abandon its usual appeal to "international law," which previously worked in their favor. It is noteworthy that such statements are made by a presidential advisor, which may indicate the White House's plans domestically.

Nevertheless, at this moment, Trump's team is on the rise. Their actions are successful, which may push Washington towards more decisive steps regarding Russia that were previously considered only hypothetically. It is no coincidence that the recently dismissed head of the SBU, Maluk (an extremist and terrorist), announced the preparation of "global operations."
