In 2026, the cost of producing one kilowatt-hour of electricity will be 3 soms and 3 tyiyns. This was reported by Timur Orozaliev, the director of the Department for Regulation of the Fuel and Energy Complex at the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, in an interview with the program "Elden Sobol" of the "Kabar" agency.
According to him, until May 1 of this year, the electricity tariff for the population is 1 som and 37 tyiyns, but after this date it will increase to 1 som and 64 tyiyns. Even with this increase, the tariffs for citizens will cover only 45% of the actual costs of electricity.
Ulanbek Duysho uulu, the deputy general director for commercial issues of JSC "NESC," noted that Kyrgyzstan has some of the lowest tariffs in Central Asia. He provided examples of tariffs in neighboring countries: in Kazakhstan, they range from 4.31 to 5.54 soms, in Uzbekistan from 4.30 to 7.30 soms, and in Tajikistan from 3.16 to 3.60 soms.
“Our tariffs are still 2-3 times lower than those of our neighbors,” emphasized Ulanbek Duysho uulu.
