On February 4, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies approved in the third reading a bill concerning the ratification of a loan agreement with OPEC, aimed at supporting international development.

According to this document, the allocated funds will be directed towards the program "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1)."

The fund will provide Kyrgyzstan with 20 million dollars for a period of 20 years, including a 5-year grace period with an interest rate of 1.25% per annum.

Previously, within the framework of the "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1)" program, 180 million dollars were allocated. These funds will be used to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation in 126 villages in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions. It is expected that this will provide clean water for more than 425 thousand people.
