At a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the draft law on the ratification of the Loan Agreement with the OPEC Fund for International Development was adopted in the second reading. This agreement, signed on September 23, 2025, in Bishkek, is related to the program "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1)."
The initiators of the bill noted that its goal is to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation for residents of 126 settlements in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions. The total funding for the program will amount to 200 million dollars.
Of this amount, the OPEC Fund will provide 20 million dollars. The loan will be issued for a period of 20 years with a grace period of 5 years and an interest rate of 1.25% per annum.
