National Films of Kyrgyzstan Attracted Over 200,000 Viewers in 2025
In 2025, the State Film Center "Kyrgyzfilm" issued 362 distribution certificates, of which 146 are intended for films produced in the country. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev presented a report on the achievements of national cinematography at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to science, education, and culture.
According to information from the Ministry of Culture, as of today, the network of state cinemas consists of 38 establishments located in 7 regions and 17 districts. During the period of 2024–2025, 11 new cinemas were opened, while the commercial sector is developing 18 modern cinemas.
As a result of the events held throughout the year, about 17,500 screenings were organized, attended by over 200,000 viewers. Box office revenues increased threefold, amounting to more than 21 million soms.
The Ministry of Culture reported significant international successes in Kyrgyz cinematography: the film "Black, Red, Yellow" won two Grand Prix awards at major international festivals, "The Fugitive" received the Grand Prix and several special awards at festivals in Asia, Europe, America, and Africa. The film "Age" was awarded two international prizes at the Busan Festival, while "Sniper" won the main prize at the III Bishkek International Festival and received a FIPRESCI diploma.
