Deputy fears: Will those responsible for fatal traffic accidents stop paying compensation to the victims?
Junushalieva noted: "According to the proposed changes, the perpetrator of an accident that resulted in death may be sentenced to 12 years in prison. Will this not lead to offenders simply stopping the payment of compensation to the victims?"
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktay Urmambetov explained that if a traffic accident resulting in the death of one person occurred due to negligence and the offender was sober, the possibility of reconciliation between the parties and the application of probation remains.
He clarified: "This bill focuses on cases where two or more people died in an accident or if the offender was under the influence. In such situations, probation is not applied, and the person must be aware of their responsibility. Compensation to the injured party will be determined by the court and is subject to mandatory enforcement," Urmambetov added.
