Bolot Ibragimov proposed to increase bonuses for inspectors for identifying drunk drivers

Deputy Bolot Ibragimov believes that it is necessary to amend the legislation to increase accountability for drivers operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He emphasized that "drunk driving is a crime, and it is time to act not only with words but also through legislative initiatives. It is important to introduce monetary fines, and for repeat offenders, to increase their amount. Additionally, in the opinion of voters, offenders should be subjected to community service," noted Ibragimov.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oktay Urmambetov reported that these issues are currently under discussion.

Furthermore, the deputy highlighted the need to increase the bonuses for inspectors who fine offenders.

Ibragimov stated: "10% of the fine amount as a bonus to the inspector's salary is not enough. This percentage needs to be increased. Then the number of drunk drivers in Bishkek and across the country will significantly decrease."

Urmambetov agreed with the deputy's proposal.

He added: "Yes, currently we allocate 10%, but this is not the limit. We will prepare the appropriate proposals for consideration in parliament," concluded the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
