The deputy proposed to raise the age for obtaining a driver's license in Kyrgyzstan to 20 or 21 years.

At the meeting of the Committee on Law and Order of the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place on January 13, deputy Nurbek Sydygaliev proposed an initiative to raise the minimum age for obtaining a driver's license in Kyrgyzstan to 20 or 21 years.
He argued that this measure could help reduce the number of road traffic accidents involving young drivers. Sydygaliev also appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to prepare an analysis of accidents among youth, including data on various age groups, particularly among individuals aged 18 to 21 years.

The deputy noted that accidents often occur due to teenagers driving cars without parental consent, and emphasized that a later issuance of driver's licenses could promote greater responsibility among drivers.
“If there is a high number of accidents among youth, it may be worth considering issuing licenses not at 17-18 years, but at 20-21 years,” he suggested.
In response, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov noted that this proposal could be considered as part of further discussions on measures aimed at enhancing road safety.
