Zhapаров noted Mirziyoyev's contribution to the resolution of border issues with Tajikistan

In his interview recorded for the film, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, emphasized the important role of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in resolving the long-standing territorial dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He noted that the Uzbek president actively contributed to finding a compromise, urging both sides to "not miss the moment and strive for mutual agreement" to ensure stability and security in the region, as reflected in Uzbek media.

In an interview given to journalist Aibek Biibosun, Japarov recalled the events that followed the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in April 2021. Despite the opposition from his advisors, including the chairman of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, he negotiated with Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe; however, the talks were unsuccessful after ten hours of discussion.

As a result of the failed negotiations, Kyrgyzstan strengthened its armed forces by purchasing Turkish Bayraktar Akıncı and Aksungur drones.

According to Japarov, during another conflict in September 2022, it became evident that the military forces of both countries were balanced.

Japarov highly appreciated Mirziyoyev's role in reaching an agreement with Tajikistan, noting that in meetings with Rahmon, he raised the issue of the necessity of dialogue. Initially, the Tajik president refused, but in a second attempt, he agreed. "Shavkat Mirziyoyev played a key role in convincing us of the importance of communication and the urgent need to achieve mutual understanding," he added.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, also noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev is one of those leaders who promote the rapprochement of Central Asian countries.

According to him, Mirziyoyev has always emphasized the need to resolve conflicts between Kyrgyz and Tajik people, pointing out that without this, no investor or tourist would come to the region. "All our countries have the suffix '-stan', and foreigners do not distinguish between Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, or Uzbekistan, so it is necessary to strive for rapprochement," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

It should be noted that in March 2025, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon, signed an agreement on the state border, which led to the resumption of operations at two checkpoints that had been closed since 2021. Air flights between Bishkek and Dushanbe, as well as Khujand, were also restored.

Additionally, in March, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan signed a trilateral agreement on border junctions at a meeting of leaders in Khujand, where the Friendship stele was ceremonially opened.

At that moment, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that this agreement would be an important factor for the stability and sustainable development of the region, strengthening its international authority. "The borders that once divided us have now become bridges of friendship and cooperation," he added.
