For Japarov and Tashiev, stability is above all, experts say

The resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, and the related publication of the "letter of 75" have become a topic of discussion among experts and political figures on "Nomad-TV." In this letter, 75 politicians and public figures called for early presidential elections. One of the signatories, Bekbolot Talgarbeckov, had previously stated his connections with retired Russian generals.

Political scientist Bakytbek Jumagulov commented on the significance of such statements from Talgarbeckov, considering that the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has strong ties with the Russian leadership:

“I cannot affirm or deny the existence of such connections for Talgarbeckov. However, given the strategic partnership with Russia, such actions could negatively impact the domestic political situation. We are part of two key organizations: the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as, together with China, in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Therefore, such initiatives are inappropriate and may provoke discontent.”

Jumagulov also commented on the actions of those who tried to distance themselves from the initiative for early elections:

“I always carefully study documents before signing. If I agree, then I sign and can justify my position. The question of early elections requires clear justification and an understanding of one’s position.”

Felix Kulov, former Prime Minister and public figure, also shared his thoughts on the "letter of 75." He believes that the cause of the political intrigue was the kurultai held in December, where the president spoke about the fight against corruption:

“The intrigue did not arise out of nowhere. At the kurultai, the president drew attention to the work of the law enforcement agencies and expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of some employees, which could have provoked reactions among them. It is clear that certain individuals, fearing for their situation, began to approach politicians and lawyers with proposals for early elections, although there are no grounds for this.”

Kulov also noted that deputies and other political figures got involved in the intrigue. When the president realized that this threatened Tashiev, he made a decision and notified him of the need for action:

“Kamchybek Kadyrshaevich reacted to this with understanding,” added Kulov.

Furthermore, he commented on the attempts of the signatories of the "letter of 75" to renounce their initiative:

“Some of them said that this was done in the interests of the state, but, apparently, they did not fully understand the content of the document. It is legally weak and does not justify the need for early elections, which led to the current situation.”

Regarding Bekbolot Talgarbeckov and his stated connections with Russian generals, Kulov said:

“This is a person who makes such statements without a proper understanding of the situation. Unfortunately, his words found support, and people signed the appeal, which was a mistake.”

Discussing the relationships between politicians, Kulov noted:

“The president and Tashiev have a strong friendship and have made promises to each other. But in politics, sometimes decisions must be made based on the interests of the state, not individuals, and the president acted accordingly.”

In the context of Tashiev's return to Kyrgyzstan, Kulov added:

“He returned to protect the interests of the state and eliminate discontent related to the actions of certain employees. This is the right step on his part.”

Doctor of Political Science and Professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kubat Sultanbekov, also expressed his views on the current political processes in Kyrgyzstan:

“Tashiev's return indicates that there will be no persecution. This is a manifestation of their friendly relations, which have existed for many years. They have worked together in the same political environment, and such connections are rare. Over the past five years, there have been no serious conflicts between them, which underscores their stable relationship.”

Sultanbekov emphasized that both politicians bear great responsibility for stability in the country and must realize that destabilization is not beneficial to anyone. “I am confident that stability will be ensured and reforms will continue,” he concluded.
