Storm Warning: Snow Avalanches and Icy Conditions Expected on Mountain Roads in Kyrgyzstan

Due to the unstable weather conditions, avalanches, snow drifts, ice, and glaze are forecasted in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan on March 4-5.

According to Kyrgyzhydromet, the most dangerous sections are located on the following roads:

- 121-138 km of the Bishkek—Osh road (Töö-Ashuu pass) and 198-265 km (Ala-Bel pass, Chychkan gorge);

- 55-115 km on the Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alaiku route;

- 45-112 km of the Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kyya road (Chapchyma pass);

- 0-3 km on the Krasnaya Gorka—Ak-Tash highway;

- 292-305 km of the Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart road (Dolon pass);

- 201-205, 260-290, and 326-249 km on the Balykchy—Kazarmin—Jalal-Abad route (Kok-Art pass);

- 45-90 km of the Karakol—Enilchek road (Chon-Ashuu pass).

Drivers are advised to maintain a distance of 500 meters when passing through avalanche-prone areas.
