According to information from TASS, the accident happened on January 11 in the morning hours. The vessel sustained serious damage and sank after the impact.
The Consul General in the Thai province, Yegor Ivanov, reported that there were 33 Russians on board the boat, as well as citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries. Unfortunately, as a result of the accident, a Russian woman born in 2008 lost her life.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the presence of two citizens of Kyrgyzstan on the boat. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Malaysia has established contact with them.
According to preliminary data, the Kyrgyz citizens did not sustain serious injuries, and their condition is stable. They declined medical assistance and hospitalization.The embassy continues to monitor the situation and maintain contact with the citizens. They are expected to return home on January 15.
