The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved the ratification of the loan agreement with the OPEC Fund for International Development for water supply.

During the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, a draft law concerning the ratification of a loan agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and OPEC for international development was reviewed and approved. This document, signed on September 23, 2025, in Bishkek, pertains to the "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1)" program and was adopted in the third reading.

The initiator of this draft law was the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers. Details of the project were presented by Eldar Sulaymanov, who heads the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh.
The goal of the program is to improve access to safe water and sanitation for 126 settlements in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions. The total funding amounts to 200 million dollars, of which 20 million dollars will be provided by the OPEC Fund for International Development. The loan term is set for 20 years, with a grace period of 5 years and an interest rate of 1.25% per annum.
Additionally, the parliamentarians also adopted in the third reading a draft law on the ratification of a loan agreement for the "First Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth" with the OPEC Fund for International Development, signed on September 22, 2025, in Bishkek. During the meeting, a draft law was reviewed in the second reading regarding the ratification of the Issuance Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and Mongolia, signed on July 21, 2025, in Bishkek.
