He asked whether this constitutes advertising, to which the director of the Cinematography Department Talantbek Tolobekov answered affirmatively.
Tolobekov noted that a commission of nine people would be created to study films that have been screened.
However, Kokulov criticized the lack of action earlier: "Why didn't you react to this before? I spoke about this three years ago, and since then I've seen three new films with similar scenes."
"I don't know how to talk to you, Marat myrza. If necessary, I am ready to sue you. Let's take this to the end; let the court decide this issue."Kokulov, addressing the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, expressed outrage: "You come to parliament and talk about the development of cinema, but what's the point if all you care about is the money from cigarette and alcohol advertising? I see in cinemas how the characters mention specific brands of cigarettes. How did you allow this?"
Tolobekov tried to justify himself, pointing out that he has only been in office for two months, but Kokulov interrupted him.
He added: "What is happening in Kyrgyzstan is already affecting the health of the nation today. I see direct advertising, and this is prohibited by law, but due to your inaction, it all makes it to the screens. You have no moral right to respond to me on this."
"I am sure there is someone in the ministry who is getting paid for this. Why are such films still allowed? I have reached out to filmmakers, urging them not to make such films. My children do not need movies funded by tobacco companies.""If I see similar footage in films again, don't take offense," concluded Kokulov.
