The Ministry of Culture is preparing 2 commercial films in pilot mode

On January 19, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh that the ministry is open to cooperation with private film studios. The discussion concerned the report on the state of national cinematography.

During the meeting, Deputy Bolo Saginayev proposed to implement joint projects with private production companies within the framework of public-private partnerships, emphasizing that such initiatives contribute to the development of cinema in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Tagaev, two pilot commercial projects are currently planned, one of which is expected to be released in mid-2026. A special financial account will be created for these purposes. "There are 80 private film studios, and we are ready to support them if their projects meet our requirements. Previously, only a few directors could present their ideas," he noted.

Saginayev added that the total budget is about 1 billion soms, proposing to allocate 500 million soms for state studios, while directing the remaining amount to private film studios to allow for the possibility of return on investment. "You presented a report on the films released, and most private projects were included in this report," he noted.

In response, Talantbek Tolobekov, the director of the Cinematography Department, confirmed that this aspect will be taken into account.
