The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan clarified the situation with U.S. immigration visas
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic commented on the recent changes in the issuance of immigration visas by the United States for citizens of the country.
On January 14, 2025, during a meeting between the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the USA, A. Moldogaziev, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia, D. Pomersheim, information was announced regarding the suspension of immigration visa issuance for citizens of 75 countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic.
These measures only affect immigration visas and do not impact non-immigrant categories, such as tourist, business, student, and other short-term visas.
The restrictions will take effect on January 21, 2026, and will last until the review of immigration visa issuance procedures by the American side is completed. It is important to note that the acceptance of applications and interviews for immigration visas will continue; however, final decisions on them will be made only after the suspension period ends.
Kyrgyz citizens should remember that previously issued visas and valid immigration documents remain valid. It is recommended to take this information into account when planning trips and to follow updates through the official channels of the U.S. Department of State.
