Kyrgyzstan is holding consultations with the USA on easing the visa regime for citizens

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, shared information about the situation of Kyrgyz citizens in the United States. According to preliminary data, approximately 40,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan reside in the U.S., including students and labor migrants.

Kulubaev warned that citizens who are in the country without visas or violating visa regulations may face deportation if identified by immigration authorities. Currently, about 20 individuals have already been deported, and it is expected that a similar number may face the same measure. However, if citizens have all their documents in order, there are no issues with their stay.

Additionally, the minister addressed the issue of the bonds required by the American side for entry. He noted that the amount of $15,000 is significant for Kyrgyz citizens, but it is part of the internal immigration policy of the U.S.
“We are holding consultations with our American colleagues to simplify the visa process and have expressed our wishes while considering their requirements,” he added.
Kulubaev emphasized that the main requirement of the U.S. is for citizens who receive visas to timely arrange all necessary documents and comply with their stay duration. He also noted that a similar practice is observed in other countries, including Russia, and Kyrgyzstan is continuously negotiating to protect the interests of its citizens.

The minister informed that his department continues to actively work on legalizing citizens abroad, as well as improving consular services.
