The GKNB commented on the court's verdict against former GNS head Abduvapa and his ex-deputy.
Both individuals were detained in connection with a case initiated by the GKNB in December 2024, under Article 337, Part 3 "Abuse of Official Position" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Considering that the crimes were committed before amendments were made to the Criminal Code that tightened penalties for corruption, they were sentenced under the old rules, which resulted in a fine being imposed on the condition of an admission of guilt and entering into a plea agreement.
During the investigation, A. A. K. and other defendants admitted their guilt and compensated the state for damages amounting to 4 billion 307 million soms.It is reported that the confessions of the defendants contributed to the uncovering of a persistent corruption scheme in the tax service, which involved other officials, including employees of the Central Audit Department of the State Tax Service. This, in turn, allowed the tax authorities not only to meet the established collection plan for 2025 but also to increase revenues by 40 billion soms more than planned.
The investigation into other defendants in the case is ongoing, and information about its progress will be provided later.
